Phosphate adsorption characteristics of ‘nanoclay’ separated from Indonesian volcanic tuffs

چکیده

From an Indonesian volcanic tuff taken from parent material layer of Andisols profile, it was separated ‘nanoclay’ fraction <200 nm particle size. The exhibits pH-dependent charge characteristic due to the presence allophane in tuff. Therefore, can be utilized as a natural anionic adsorbent since its separation process conditioned proceed at pH <4.0. This study aims compare phosphate adsorption characteristics positively charged based on Langmuir, Freundlich, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and Dubinin-Radushkevich (D‒R) isothermal models. using US Patent No. US2010/0187474 A1 procedure that modified this with addition HCl treatment. results showed after 48 h equilibration, application Langmuir D‒R model resulted capacity (qe para-meter) 460.78 (two-sites) 439.66 mg.g-1 (heterogeneous sites), respectively, while BET Freundlich respectively first adsorptive (qmono parameter) 111.11 (multilayers) constant (1/n 0.28. later indicated studied high-quality value 0.1-0.5). Limitations advantages each were discussed. However, best performance term linear equations highest R2 values obtained.

Atmospheric transport and deposition of Indonesian volcanic emissions

A regional climate model has been used to study the transport and deposition of sulfur (SO2 and SO 2− 4 ) and PbCl2 emissions from Indonesian volcanoes. The sensitivity of the atmospheric loss of these trace species to meteorological conditions and their solubility was examined. Two experiments were conducted: 1) volcanic sulfur released as primarily SO2 and subject to transport, deposition, an...

Ceramic material from basaltic tuffs

The possibility to obtain a cheap ceramic material based on 50 wt % basaltic tuffs and 50 wt % industrial clays was studied. The tuffs were characterized by optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction and differential thermal analysis. It was shown that this material is appropriate for the ceramic industry: it is easy for milling and is characterized by low liquidus temperature. The sintering behavio...

Sintered material from alkaline basaltic tuffs

he possibility to obtain sintered material from alkaline basaltic tuffs is demonstrated. The parent rock was milled for 10–15 min, the resulting owder was pressed at 100 MPa and the obtained samples were heat-treated in the range of 1000–1140 ◦C. The sintering behaviour and the phase ormation were studied by pycnometry, dilatometry, DTA, XRD and SEM. The final material was obtained by sintering...
